Recently it was my mother’s birthday and for this she and my brother came down to Cardiff to spend a day with us. This was also the first time she was able to see the flat I was living in for third year which was lovely. 

For my mum’s birthday present I went into Lush where they told me that I could create a gift set for her from picking a few products and wrapping them up in a knot wrap. I thought this was an amazing idea and when the price came up I was amazed at how cheap it was! This meant the present was more personalised and she loved it more because I took the time to choose the right things that I knew she’d love. For this I picked: the Sparkling Pumpkin (from their Halloween line), Intergelactic and the Luxury Lush Pud as well as a knot wrap. 

On the day, after a bit of shopping, we went to the mini golf place in St David’s I have mentioned before. We took this picture because this was the moment I got a hole in one! At the end my mum managed to win a free game from getting the ball in the hole on the nineteenth hole which was amazing (I’m calling it beginner’s luck!) 

 
For dinner we went to Bellini’s which was lovely. Bellini’s is one of my favourite places to eat in Cardiff if you want something a bit more posh. 

 
For starters I had Pane Fresco which is ciabetta bread with extra virgin olive oil and balsamic vinegar. You got to serve the amount of vinegar and oil you wanted yourself which was lovely because my mum has lots of vinegar while I like to have a good ratio! The bread was very filling but was toasted just enough to be tough on the outside and soft in the middle. 

 
For mains I had Penne Amatriciana. Penne pasta with smoked bacon, garlic, extra virgin olive oil, chilli and plum tomatoes. I then had this topped with Parmesan cheese and black pepper. This dish is amazing and one I always go for! The chilli is a little spicy but not too much and the flavours are amazing! It’s also a very filling dish which is why I didn’t go for dessert. 

I also stole a few chips from my mum and tried some of her peppercorn sauce (she chose the steak) and the sauce was one of the best I’ve had! Very creamy and full of flavour, I loved it! 

I had a wonderful day with my mum and brother and I hope my mum liked her birthday. Since she’s been putting videos and pictures up of her bath bombs on Facebook to show me I think she liked her present!
