Coal Grill and Bar

For my brother’s birthday my mum, brother and I went for a meal at the Coal Grill and Bar. I had heard of this place but never been inside. I am so glad that we went there as the food is amazing and the atmosphere is so home like.

In the lights there were coals and a coal held together the drinks menu and promotional menus on the table which was such a lovely detail.

The decor was amazing! And the staff were so friendly and honest it made the whole experience nicer.

I started off with sharing some bread with my mum. This came with oil and balsamic vinegar (which I love) and came with flatbreads, ciabatta and dough sticks. This was a lovely starter to share.

The starter I got on my own was chorizo in garlic butter. This was incredibly tasty! It wasn’t very filling which was great for a starter and the chorizo was full of flavour.

For mains I got the Chicken Eldorado. A chicken fillet marinated in lime and fajita seasoning topped with tortilla chips, melted cheese, sour cream. It also came with spiced potatoes tossed with spring onions, chillies and a spicy tomato sauce. I wasn’t huge on the potatoes simply because I’m not a fan of boiled potatoes but the rest was amazing! This dish is spicy so be prepared for a bit of heat. You got a big fillet of chicken so there was a good ratio between the meat and the rest of the dish and the sour cream really helped to bring down the spicyness.

My brother had the Sirloin Steak (medium rare) with chips, coleslaw, corn on the cob and peppercorn sauce. We all tried a bit of this and it was so good! The steak was cooked perfectly, the peppercorn sauce was full of flavour and the chips were crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Perfect!

My mum opted for the rump beef House Fajitas. This is served on a hot skillet with mixed peppers, chillies, onions and garlic. Accompanied with flour tortillas, spicy salsa, grated cheese, guacamole and sour cream. This was such a beautiful dish with a lot of small parts going on. I liked that you built your fajitas yourself so you could have them just how you wanted them.

Of course, after all these delicious dishes I had to go for a dessert. The three of us shared the chocolate fondue that came with waffle pieces, banana, strawberries and marshmallows. This was so tasty! It was a great little dish that had a lot of fun to it and everyone enjoyed it.

The chocolate also stayed melted by the use of a little candle below which I thought was an adorable add on and a very good idea.

I thouroghly recommend Coal Grill and Bar as they have many amazing dishes that would suit anyone and it’s all presented so well for a great price.

Have you been here before? What did you think?

Until next time.
