Flatliners Trailer Review
I need to watch the original movie because this one looks really good!
Flatliners is a film about a group of students who want to know what happens when we die. They get each other to stop their heart for a few minutes before bringing them back to life. This gives them an idea of what happens but they also realise that coming back to life has caused them to be rewired in some way and have talents and skills they didn’t have before they died. As they stay dead for longer and longer the more powerful these skills seem to be.
But things go wrong. One guy finds a baby in a box in his room. Another starts hallucinating and one even nearly drowns in a pool due to the words ‘murderer’ being written on the bottom of the pool. There’s lots of hints to death and the afterlife and ways in which people die until the character played by Ellen says that she hasn’t been completely honest with her intent in this experiment. It’s a rollercoaster ride that seems to start off as a simple experiment and grows into something more.
This movie looks so interesting. Just for comparison I also went back and watched the other trailer for the original movie and this one seems so much more scary and tense. It includes some well known faces including Ellen Page from Juno and Nina Dobrev who was in the Vampire Diaries.
Overall it looks like a very interesting movie and I want to see the original just so I can compare and see what they’ve done that is new and different. The idea that we could die and be brought back to life to really understand who we are and where we go once we die is a really interesting concept and of course something that is on everyone’s minds.
This movie excites me and I hope it’ll be good. If it’s not I guess I’ll just go watch the original!

Yes from 1990! It has Keifer Sutherland in it. I didn’t realise how scary it would be! I can’t wait for it to be released. I’ll be reviewing the original closer to the release of this one.

This film has so much potential that is wasted. The core idea of gods-in-training toying with death is great, but because the film is so repetitive it never rises in tension or narrative interest. I still gave it 2 1/2 out of five stars.
