Mother! Trailer Review

This movie has been hot news ever since that creepy poster emerged so getting to see the trailer was really exciting. Currently, I don’t know what to make of this movie as they haven’t given too much away, but knowing it’s made by the same person who made Black Swan, you know it’s going to be weird.

This movie stars Jennifer Lawrence who has a new home with her husband. She decides to breathe life into the home by redecorating every room. But then things get weird, she sees blood on a rug on the floor but when she touches it it does not stain her finger. Is it really there?

Then one by one strangers start arriving at the home, people it seems her husband knows. They even have pictures of him in their luggage which he doesn’t question. Of course Lawrence’s character starts to go mad seeing exploding blood lights and blood seeping through walls. She even finds a secret room in the basement of the house, but what is all this for?

There are short snippets where it looks like Lawrence could be on some sort of operating table or at least is being held against her will, is it a sacrifice? If so, why her? Why would her husband go to all this trouble to kill her? I guess we’ll have to wait and see.

A lot of people have compared this movie to the likes of Get Out and American Horror Story: Roanoke which I can see. It does seem like a movie that has a big twist where you believe one thing when really it’s another. But why? And where does mother come into it? Another comparison was Rosemary’s Baby. Maybe Lawrence is the mother and these people are here to steal her baby, that would make sense with the sex scenes shown and the idea she’s on an operating table as well as the fact she drinks some weird drink in the bathroom, maybe she’s trying to get rid of the baby?

I can imagine, if this movie is good, it’ll cause a lot of discussion. It looks very interesting and I hope it is good because it already has a lot of hype surrounding it.

What do you think of Mother!?

Until next time.
