Sainsbury’s Christmas Advert 2018 Review
Now you want a proper Christmas ad, with this you got a proper Christmas ad. Well done Sainsburys, you may not be the best supermarket but you certainly gave me that festive feeling.
In this advert we follow a school play where the kids sing a very retro song (a few decades old counts as retro right?). At first the lone girl singing and dressed as a star is a bit apprehensive and awkward but when she sees her mum in the audience she really decides to go for it….and it’s awesome. The curtains pull back and we are met with a sight of both tradition and new-age festivity. From camels and angels to the queen’s speech and a drumming turkey this had it all. I especially liked the giant Christmas tree that was lit up by a kid dressed up as a plug jumping into a socket. It was hilarious and so well done.
Then the icing on the cake, or gravy if you will, was a giant gravy boat spilling glitter over all the kids. I loved it and it certainly took me back to the days when I would do plays at school, although ours were never this awesome!
Not only was it festive, funny, and sweet it was also very clever and had everything covered. It takes you back to your childhood and reminds you of all the great things you have to look forward to through December.
Although I can imagine the song would get old quickly the actual advert will not and I feel it’ll put a smile on my face for many watches to come. Oh and thank god there’s no James Corden in this one eh?
Watch the ad below and tell me what you think!
Until next time.
