RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 11 Review
Well what can I say about season 11 apart from Scarlet was robbed. Nina was robbed. And Silky got way too many free passes and did not deserve to get to the final. As is tradition, let’s break down the queens shall we?
Soju
Soju was most definitely a character. She seemed to have a huge heart and despite her cyst talk making me want to gag (and not in a good way) she seemed fun and I enjoyed watching her. I think if she polished herself a bit more she could be a real contender in the drag race scene.
Kahanna Montrese
I’ll be honest, I don’t really remember Kahanna. With so many girls this season it was hard to keep up with all of them and if you didn’t have the personality you did just fade away. Unfortunately this was Kahanna for me.
Honey Davenport
Damn when Honey came back with that beard I was shook, that is one good looking man. And as a drag queen Honey looked stunning and it was a shame to see her go, although her drop off the stage did look awful and I wasn’t surprised.
Mercedes Iman Diamond
Mercedes is an absolute gem and was so lovely to watch. She brought new insight into the world of drag and was the meme of the season. I loved watching her but I definitely think she wasn’t as strong as some of the other contestants.
Scarlet Envy
I was shocked when Scarlet left – to think Ra’Jah had constantly been in the bottom blew me away that she was eliminated especially with how strong her acting performance was. I think she’s gorgeous, funny, and reminds you that you should always be your own cheerleader.
Ra’Jah O’Hara
Ra’Jah was definitely the villain of the season. While I did miss her shade when she was gone I wasn’t sad to see her leave. I do believe she should’ve been eliminated earlier on though – I felt she got a lot of chances compared to other girls.
Plastique Tiara
I expected more from Plastique but it’s definitely true that beauty can only get you so far. While she may not be the best actress or dancer I definitely see a bright future for her because she is just so stunning!
Shuga Cain
Shuga I felt was quite quiet and so could be lost easily but she had a big heart and came across as someone you’d enjoy hanging out with. I wouldn’t be annoyed to see her pop up again – All Stars perhaps?
Nina West
Nina West is everything! I’m amazed she didn’t go further. She’s so charismatic, hilarious, kind and has a wonderful moral story behind her. I adore Nina West and I am so glad she has so many fans and followers because she does truly deserve it.
Vanessa Vanjie Mateo
Miss Vanjie really surprised me this season. She seemed polished, level headed, took criticism and learnt from it and I’m amazed she didn’t get further in the competition. I adore her and I know she has a bright future ahead of her and she’ll do great things.
Silky Nutmeg Ganache
Now I’m going to be completely real here, no shade, I really didn’t enjoy Silky. She came across as cocky, slightly delusional, and wouldn’t listen to others or learn from her mistakes. She bigged herself up to be very anticlimactic and I’m amazed the judges allowed her so many free passes. I’m just glad I don’t have to watch her every week anymore.
A’keria Chanel Davenport
A’kiera certainly grew on me. I found her quiet at first but after twerking and crying she sold me on her personality. I also thought she was gorgeous but did I expect her to get to the finale? Definitely not. But I was pleasantly surprised and she seems great.
Brooke Lynn Hytes
I loved Brooke from the first week. She was a clear winner in my eyes and I wasn’t surprised at all that she made it to the final. I did feel the judges were harsh on her as I felt she ticked every box but I’m still proud of where she got in the competition and I look forward to see what comes from her in the future.
And finally, the winner is:
Yvie Oddly
This didn’t surprise me. Yvie was a fantastic contender and I enjoyed watching her every week. She has a great personality, wears insanely brilliant outfits and has many different sides to her which makes her so versatile. My favourite moment of the whole season is still her twerking while crying. It was the craziest thing I’d ever seen and I found it so hilarious. I believe she was a worthy winner and I look forward to see what she does next.
So congratulations Yvie. what did you guys think of Drag Race Season 11?
Until next time.
