I first watched this movie when I was a teenager but never got to the ending. So, watching it again at 24 with some knowledge of the film, I found I really enjoyed it.

Edgar Wright is one of my favourite directors so I wasn’t shocked that I enjoyed this movie. It was brilliant with the satire and really had all the elements that make comic books and video games great but in a movie!

I found all the characters were well fleshed out and interesting and it did have me laughing out loud at some moments that were just weird and wacky. When Scott jumps out the window it still gets me.

But, no movie is perfect and this one did have one big issue that does turn me off a lot of movies and makes me not want to re-watch them again: it felt like it dragged and never finished. There’d be moments where I’d think, oh good, we’re nearing the end because all the most exciting parts have finished, yet it just kept going! The fight at the end I almost wanted to end quicker because I became quite bored. Maybe it’s me, I’m not the right demographic or whatever but there came a point where I just wasn’t excited to keep watching.

Now, don’t get me wrong, that doesn’t mean I didn’t enjoy this movie. It’s just I wouldn’t reach for it to re-watch anytime soon. I more love it for its comedic moments I can use as  reactions to real-life situations rather than watch the whole movie again.

Maybe that’s why I never finished it as a teenager…
