I didn’t want to watch thus show but seeing the hype I did…I wish I hadn’t!

Ratched is based off the nurse from One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest, basically giving her a backstory before she appeared in that book/film. Now I have neither seen nor read One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest so this character and who she was, was completely new to me. I will admit I had to research the original plot to really understand who she was and why I should care for her character.

Now I won’t lie, the production value of this show was really good but the storyline and the characters, especially as they’re seen as the bad guys, really isn’t enjoyable. You cannot empathise with these characters at all and neither should you, Yes Ratched and her brother had bad upbringings and went through a lot of terrible ordeals but that does not mean there’s any reasoning to their actions and what they do in the show.

It reminded me why I still haven’t finished the most recent season of American Horror Story, it was incredibly underwhelming and the hype that surrounded it really didn’t do it any favours. This whole show seemed like a waste of my time and being open ended I am worried it will get more seasons in the future.

If I were you I would not watch this show, it is 8 hours of your life you will not get back. I feel if there was more depth to it and not the forced emotions that we are supposed to feel for thee truly awful individuals it could’ve maybe been better. But I feel unless you had already seen or read the original the point of this show could easily be lost on you.
