In 2021 I fell down a hole of multi level marketing when a girl from Juice Plus added me on Facebook out of the blue and tried to market it to me. Since then I have engaged with a lot of multilevel marketing schemes commentary, so when I saw this show on Amazon I knew I had to watch it.

LuLaRoe is a multi level marketing company in America that sells clothing. A multi level marketing company is also known as a pyramid scheme, and the people in it will tell you it’s not a pyramid scheme because they are illegal, however it’s simply a pyramid scheme with a product that makes it more law-abiding. A pyramid scheme is where you have to create a team or a downline to be able to make proper money within the business as selling the products wouldn’t give you enough, and because of this there always has to be someone at the bottom of the pyramid who is doing badly. It is known that over 90% of people in multi level marketing schemes never make any money despite the chance of uncapped income and working around your life.

So where did it all go wrong for LuLaRoe? Well simply they became too big. They had too many market partners that were working with them and they couldn’t keep up with all the hype. Leggings were being left outside making them dirty and wet and smelly, creative people who made the artistry were stealing ideas from other people and not covering it up well enough to not get sued, and overall far too many people were getting scammed and the two owners of LuLaRoe just didn’t know what to do or how to cover it up.

For anyone who wants to join a multi level marketing or network marketing company who thinks it will be a good investment of their time and money and thinks that it will make all their dreams come true, there is a saying ‘if it seems too good to be true then it probably is’ and I highly recommend you watch this documentary first. Now yes, it is only about one multi level marketing scheme, however almost all of these network marketing companies follow the same sort of structure so even if you don’t live in America or you haven’t heard about LuLaRoe but have heard of Juice Plus or Beach Body etc., then this would be a great documentary for you to watch before getting involved in it to see what the true story really is.

This is of course a very niche area of the Internet and media and so this documentary isn’t going to be for everyone, but if you do have an interest in it I highly recommend you watch it. It is absolutely fantastic, really well-made, and you get to see all sides of the coin from the founders who believe they’ve done nothing wrong, to people who have left LuLaRoe and lost everything, and even people who are still in it and still trying to make ends meet with it without realising how bad things are going. It’s definitely a ‘don’t drink the Kool-Aid’ sort of situation and it really shows you how cultish these companies really are.
